Solo Date Nights!
I'm a girl who doesn’t have a lot of friends. My corner of the world runs small and that's okay. My energy is sacred to me and I keep it protected as much as I can (To a fault). Due to that, I have to do things on my own sometimes. Was it scary at first? Absolutely. Did I keep pushing myself to enjoy the world around me alone? Yes I did. Did it happen all at once? Nope, not in the slightest.
Here are 10 things I did recently in my solo date nights:
1. Movie Theater
Going to the movie theater by yourself is a great starter solo date especially if you experience anxiety like I do. Pre-purches your ticket, get yourself a little snack you can sneak in, and head on in. Pick a seat that's in the back corner of the theater that way you can see everyone in front of you (and they can’t see you). I promise you, you will feel so proud of yourself for accomplishing this feat of doing something by yourself.
2. Pottery Painting
Dig into your creativity and go paint pottery! Bring some snacks, a little drink, and headphones. I love to paint mugs. I have a little collection going and each one represents a time I took for myself.
3. Park
I love getting an iced matcha, food to-go and having a little picnic at the park! I'll also bring my dog Link, and walk around a little after enjoying a meal. Sunset is the best time of day! During my walk I'll listen to a podcast or nothing at all. I like being present during this time and take everything in as I go.
4. Store Walk
Going to all my favorite stores is a great way to spend some alone time. You don't even have to buy anything. Get your steps in and walk around your favorite stores. In my small town, this is one of my favorite things to do. Its also a great way to get some inspo if outfits, gift ideas, and decor.
5. Take a Drive
This is seriously one of my favorite things to do. Drive around a scenic area and blast that music and sing along. Feeling sad? Pour your heart out in some lyrics. Feeling happy? Now's the time to pop your head and scream it to the world.
6. Farmers Market
Want to romanticize your life? Put on a cute outfit, do your hair and put some makeup on. Stunning. Go to the farmers market and contribute to your local shops! Take some pictures and enjoy the flow of the market.
7. Photo/Color Walk
Another great way to get your steps in while enjoying the world around you. I love going on photo walks. Pick a color before you start and keep an eye out through your walk. Take a mental note of it or snap a picture! Create a collage and post it on your socials or keep it just for yourself.
8. Home Spa Night
Get a charcuterie board, face masks, cozy socks, and even thrift a movie. Sometimes the best nights alone are spent at home while pampering yourself.
9. Dance Party
Get some wine or your preferred drink of choice, blast some music in your living room or dining area and start dancing. I love doing this when I feel in a funk, movement combined with screaming music lyrics always gets my blood flowing and dopamine levels up!
10. Take Advantage of Your Town!
If my town had an art museum or zoo I would seriously go every week. Put on a cute fit, take some pictures, drink your fun little drink and be in the moment. Look at your town's online events and scroll through your options. Perfect time to spend some time alone and enjoy the world around you.
Summary
Solo dating is scary at first, but I promise you, your confidence will rise and you'll get this overwhelming feeling of pride. You won't grow unless you put yourself in uncomfortable situations. It's so important to take that time for yourself. It's okay to be alone with your thoughts and to enjoy your own company in the present moment. Take your time with it, there's no pressure to be an expert at going at it alone right away. But I know you can do it!!
